PLEASE NOTE: Fertility is checked on each species before making eggs available in the breeding season. We make every effort to maintain fertility and safe egg handling. We cannot control Australia Post handling & delivery, purchaser's handling, incubation factors (there are a variety of cheap incubators on the market and any incubator should be professionally serviced each season) or failure to change address on Paypal. (AUSTRALIA ORDERS ONLY) All our fertile eggs are shipped in EggSafe (reusable) cartons and via express post (included in the cost) on Monday's only. Please make plans to receive either Tuesday or Wednesday (maybe later in outback areas). It is recommended to let your eggs settle for 24hrs, after receiving them, before placing them in the incubator.
IT IS THE PURCHASERS RESPONSIBILITY TO RESEARCH THE INCUBATOR AND HATCHING REQUIREMENTS OF THE SPECIES OF EGGS BEING PURCHASED.
Eggs purchased outside of the normal laying season generally have a lower fertility rate than during the normal October to March season - by placing an order in the off season your are acknowledging your acceptance of this risk. During winter our quail are provided with 14 hours light, 24/7 heating & a high protein/ calcium diet - in return they continue to provide us with eggs. Whilst we continue to incubate our quail eggs on a weekly basis to ensure fertility, we cannot guarantee that every egg that makes it to your incubator via road/ air travel will hatch.
Please also be advised that environmental factors can affect egg fertility. Just because an egg does not candle does not necessarily mean the egg was not fertilised. Just as with human fertility, many factors can mean that an embryo may not develop from day 1 through to 17 of hatch. Whilst we do everything possible to ensure fertility of our hens, cocks and eggs, we cannot 100% guarantee that every egg is fertile or will grow on as an embryo once an egg has left our farm. Many factors including air & road travel, handling, incubator quality, and temperature can affect an eggs fertility. If you are new to quail or incubating eggs, we suggest you wait until summer to try hatching eggs as this will give you a realistic idea of what to expect and the opportunity to learn the process when fertility is at it's peak.
Outside of the regular breeding season we are only offering a mix of both normal & rare king quail eggs per dozen. This is due to limited birds laying. With our King Quail eggs our "NORMAL" eggs will be from a mix of Cinnamon, Brown or Silver Hens. With our RARE King Quail Breed eggs they will be from a mix of Whites, Tuxedo, Darth Vader, Red Breasted, Black Faced Red Breasted, Pied, Wing Pied etc..., however you may get some "Normals Splits" hatch from these eggs to. On "rare" breed king quails a hatch rate of only 30 to 50% can be achieved but may be considerably less with shipped eggs.
